Student Academic AI Prompt Guide

A structured prompt framework for helping students turn broad academic questions into grounded, evidence-aware analysis.

Student Academic AI Prompt Guide framework
A four-part prompt matrix for clearer academic collaboration with AI.

Why it exists

Students often begin with an underspecified question and receive an overly general answer. This guide makes the missing decisions visible—context, evidence, constraints, and the intended output—before the prompt is written.

The framework

01 · Context

Clarify the course, subject, audience, and boundaries of the task.

02 · Evidence

Ask for sources, uncertainty, and a distinction between facts and inference.

03 · Method

Define the reasoning approach: compare, critique, synthesise, or outline.

04 · Output

Set the format, level of detail, and checks needed before the work is used.

Design contribution

I translated a complex prompt-writing process into a simple, reusable visual matrix that supports learning rather than presenting AI output as a finished answer.

This is an independent educational framework. Users should verify sources and follow their institution’s academic-integrity guidance.
